Have you ever been to one of those community meetings where you just couldn't wait to get out of there?
So have we. It's awful.
The person leading the meeting has the best intentions, but no one's talking or contributing to the conversation. This might as well be a lecture. As an involved community member, you want to stay for the information, show that you're engaged and invested—but those meetings.
Sometimes they drone on forever, where someone is just reporting out information like a loud speaker. Going on and on and on and on and...on (okay, that's enough of that). Other times it's just chaos. People are talking over each other, or one person dominates the room and no one else get to talk. And at the end of it all you walk away thinking, "well that was a waste of time, I'm not doing that again."
Sound too familiar?
If you're like us, you're never, ever gonna hold meetings like that. You don't want to be the subjecting others to exactly what you dread, right? So what should you do to make your meetings better, and possibly enjoyable? How do you get active participation and real engagement in your community meetings?
Chunk it out and mix it up.
That's how we like our community meetings. Learn more about this kind of meeting agenda in this week's Collabo Clip.
